I'll be at Landis today 3/25/10
I should be there by around 1-1:30. I'm trying to get my Zune to work, but The person who gave it to me didn't include the software/drivers and apparently you can't find the drivers online anywhere...

The weather is going to be gorgeous this weekend. I'd love to make it out to the course(s) Saturday and Sunday, but I have work until 2pm Saturday and I do have a few things I want to do before the weekend is over.

I will most definitely be out at Landis Park on Sunday. I would love to start getting a tag league going again and Sundays work well for me as it's my day off from work already. If anyone wants to come out and discuss the possibilities of tags that would be great. I have been playing mostly by myself lately so I'd love to have some other people to pace myself. That way when I finally get my ace this month I'll have a witness! i already chained out twice this month (hole 4 at Philly and Hole 6 red at Landis) and I'm itching for another ace.

I'll be out Sunday with all of my extra discs as well as my tub of shirts. I'm working on printing up at least 2 more designs this weekend so Please bring some cash if you want some shirts!!

here is a teaser of what's in store for you:

-Scott Lewis
SJDGC
Hyzer Flip

Posted to: Tee Times Show Thread | Post Reply

thx.. I have been on there, but Unfortunately my membership is still being authorized. I used to have an account there years ago, but wanted to start a new one. It's been well over a week and I haven't received a confirmation email about my account yet.

I wanted to post on there that our Monthly on Sunday is cancelled.. Our Schedule wasn't actually supposed to be posted on the MADC site, but I think BOB did it as a courtesy at the MADC meeting a month or 2 ago.

we are still working putting a newer schedule together since our last one wasn't official.

Still thinking of going out to the Brandywine IB tomorrow!!

-Scott Lewis
SJDGC
Hyzer Flip

Posted to: stickitdg.com Show Thread | Post Reply

are we still having the tournaments or are we canceling for now? I''m gonna be up at Buzzzy's Icebowl and I need to know whether we are canceling or playing at Landis.. I might not even be at our IB because my boss put me on for that day . Hopefully I can switch.

-Scott Lewis
SJDGC
Hyzer Flip

Posted to: Tee Times Show Thread | Post Reply

yeah That's what I heard.
I Played even before the snow and a lot of the course was flooded.
Looks like it'll be Landis Park for a while. That park actually dried up pretty well. We played there Sunday and only a few teepads were muddy. The whole course was playable.

It's fun going back. And I was surprised I parked a few holes, especially 17 from yellow.

-Scott Lewis

Posted to: Tee Times Show Thread | Post Reply

I was out there yesterday and most of the course is under water. 1 is unplayable. 7-10 is one big lake. Hole 13 is flooded out. The trench you shot across on 16 is all water, which floods out the hole 15 pin. It was pretty much a bummer of a day.

Posted to: Tee Times Show Thread | Post Reply

I didn't read through this whole thing, but already i agree that most redesign ideas involve cutting out hole 1.
also some ideas (for flow) involve cutting out hole 6 and 7.

when i read your whole post i'll give you some opinion on it!

Merry Christmas!!

-Scott Lewis
Hyzer Flip
SJDGC

Posted to: Go with the (new) flow part 1 (front 9) Show Thread | Post Reply

Hey there, the Vineland Open DG tournament is coming along. I am wondering do any club logo's exist that I can use in the show? I've been trying to contact scott lewis but there's no email address that I know of.

I also need a course rep to verify par and distance for holes 12 through 18 that were played at the tournament.

Kevin McGorry

Posted to: Club Logo Show Thread | Post Reply

Go with the (new) flow part 2 (back 9)

Hole #10 This is Tim's tournament hole 12B. A straight shot over the small pond. Tees could vary with the tournament tee as the red tee, white and blue directly in back of the red. In my dreams, I would love to see a bunch of landfill dumped on the landing area to create a penisula feel similar to hole 17 at the TPC Sawgrass in ball golf.

Hole #11 Current hole 13. White tee would become red, a new white tee could be halfway between the two current tees but closer to the right side and the current yellow tee would become blue.

Hole #12 Current hole 14. The white tee would be a combo of red & white and the yellow tee changed to blue.

Hole #13 Current hole 15. A new red tee could be constructed down the hill from the white and to the left. White tee remains the same and the current yellow changes to blue. I would also recommend moving the pin placement more to the right and maybe up the hillside a little just to put a separation between the next hole.

Hole #14 Current hole 16. A new red tee down in the flat to make for an uphill tee shot, white remains white, yellow changes to blue.

Hole #15 Current hole 17. White tee becomes red, yellow becomes white and the tournament tee becomes blue. Superb hole.

Hole #16 Tims short tournament hole directly behind the current hole 17. Combo tee? Pin placement could be up the hill in the clear.

Hole #17 This would be a new hole. There is a dirt road leading to the current yellow tee on hole 18, the proposed tees would be along this road making this a slight dogleg to the right. Some light trimming will be needed in the 'chute'.

Hole #18 Current hole 18 with some modifications. The current pin location would be moved near to the tournament pin location. The red and white tee's could be placed anywhere within the fairway with the blue tee moved up from the current yellow position so not to interfere with hole 17.

A good location for the pin would be at the flag pole stump on the hillside between the shelter and lake. Again, it would be nice to dump a truck load of dirt on the hillside and build a retaining wall on the lake side.

Posted to: Go with the (new) flow part 2 (back 9) Show Thread | Post Reply

Go with the (new) flow part 1 (front 9)

I'm going to throw this idea out at ya'll to get some opinions on a possible layout redesign of Crystal Lakes DGC. Trying to use as much of the original layout as possible with a few minor adjustments for safety and flow. Additionally, I believe it's possible to have three sets of tees on some of the holes: Red (shortest), White (most played) and Blue (for tournamnet play). These colors are the standard at most ball golf courses with an additional 'Gold' or "Black' tee for tournaments. These colors print out great & look good on a scorecard too.

Trash hole 1 all together, incoming road, dock , boat launch and white tee being to close to parking lot and road may lead to disaster. I say move hole 1 in front of the trees and make it a practice basket, or practice basket near the picnic area.

Hole #1 - Existing hole 2. White tee becomes red, yellow tee becomes white and the tee over the lake becomes blue. The blue tee could be built up on a slight mound to avoid lake flooding.

Hole #2 - Existing hole 3. White tee becomes red, a new white tee could be laid out directly behind the red (for a slight left to right tee shot) and yellow would become the blue tee.

Hole#3 - Existing hole 4. Combine the current white tee to red & white, scratch the current yellow tee and relocate in the vicinity of the current hole 1 to become the blue tee.

Hole #4 - Existing hole 7. Scratch the yellow tee and make the white tee a combo red, white and blue tee. Now the fun begins...This hole potentially could have 3 pin placements (A, B,C). The current pin placement, a possible 2nd on top of the mound behind the current pin location and a third somewhere down the current hole 9 fairway.

Hole #5 - Existing hole 8 tee to the hole 5 pin location. White tee becomes red, the 'old' yellow tee becomes white and the current yellow tee becomes blue. Minor clearing around the current hole 5 is all that is needed, you could also add a secondary pin placement straight down the path of the current hole #8 fairway.

Hole #6 - Current hole 6 tee to existing hole 10 pin. A new red tee most anywhere could be constructed, the white tee stays as is and the yellow tee becomes blue. The pin location could be reset more in the middle of the current hole 10 fairway.

Hole#7 - Current hole 11. A new red tee constructed anywhere, white tee stays white and the yellow tee becomes blue. I would love to see this pin location moved directly behind its current loacation to a cleared out area to provide for open putting. The approach shot (a tough one at that) would become the most important shot to set you up for a par putt. GREAT HOLE!

Hole#8 - Current hole 12. White tee becomes red, a new white tee could be constructed directly behind the red but into the woods and maybe further in for a blue tee (or have white & blue combo). Trash the current yellow tee which in my opinion is to dangerous.

Hole#9 - For Tim's tournaments, this is what is known as hole 12A. The tee is to the right of current hole 12 pin and plays as a right to left shot down a narrow dogleg. Red tee could be at the bend of the dogleg to make it a nice ace run. White and blue tees could be placed where the tee is for Tim's tournaments. Pin placement on the edge makes for an awesome decision maker (Should I go for it, or lay up?). Some clearing behind the pin location would be needed to allow for fly-bys for the golfers with kahunas that miss their target. Great risk reward hole.

Stay tuned for 'Part 2 - back 9', feel free to comment on my revamping ideas. Better yet, leave some ideas of your own.

Please note: I'm not trying to take over or take away from the current course designers, they did a fantastic job on the current layout. I'm just trying to input suggestions for a safer, more pleasurable golfing experience with a little more variety for all skill levels (hence the 3 tee idea, besides red, white and blue is more patriotic).

Myers

Posted to: Go with the (new) flow part 1 (front 9) Show Thread | Post Reply
